I have worked with Jill for years at three different homes. She has taken completely blank landscapes and turned them into lush gardens. Her work is a gift to the neighborhood, bringing joy not only to us but to all that see it.
One of the things I love about Jill’s talent is the diversity in the landscapes we have enjoyed—from and English cottage garden with sweet peas climbing our picket fence to a tropical oasis in the backyard, to drought tolerant and native selections for low maintenance.
She has the gift of true artistry with nature as her medium.

My wife and I have had the pleasure of designing a number of gardens with Jill. She is a pleasure to work with—both in creating the garden and in supporting it. She’s sensitive with texture, color, the rhythm of the plants working together, and their health.
We started with two garden spaces at our house in San Francisco. Both have been a great success. In one, exposed to excessive wind and fog, Jill was able against all odds to induce dahlias to grow successfully. And although the back yard is half in shadow, it's filled with color and variety year around.
We’ve also hired her to plant from scratch a pair of gardens in Stinson Beach. She spends time on the area observing what’s successful and intuitively building ideas. The
proof of her inspiration is that the garden was immediately successful—nearly everything thrives in an abundance of color. Not only have our gardens been successful, but the bar for beautiful yards in our neighborhoods has been raised and others are following suit. I can’t recommend Jill highly enough.

Jill and her crew have worked in my garden for three years. Jill is an exceptional gardener: she has a magic touch. Her aesthetic pruning is beautiful, and her sense of design is exquisite. She has extensive knowledge of plants, their care and uses, and knows how to use plants to attract butterflies and birds. Her crew does an excellent job weeding and maintaining a large garden. Jill is easy to work with, since she listens and communicates well. I recommend her most highly.

It has been our pleasure to have Jill Potter as our gardener for 17 years. We have a small but difficult garden in the Cow Hollow district of San Francisco. The north sloping site is largely shaded and often subject to the city's famous dessicating salt laden winds from out of the west. This ocean influenced climate along with sandy dunes originated soils makes starting plants and sustaining vigorous growth extremely challenging. These conditions also limit the palette of readily maintainable plants as well as the range of colorful flowering shrubs and perennials.
In spite of these drawbacks, Jill has been able to create, with skill and an eye for interesting plant forms, a small but dense garden consisting of a richly textured mix of small trees, annuals, perennials and colorful flowering shrubs. Notably she is able to coax color out of the plant mix for most of the year. She attends to technical tasks such as pruning and thinning, spraying, selection of annuals etc, personally.
She is professional and a lively, pleasant, cooperative person with whom to work.
